Knowledge of diversity is important for all. Training is provided to all new hires, no matter the positions the persons will hold. It is important for us to be mindful of the various cultures represented in the work place and schools. We all look at situations through our previous experiences to build our knowledge base. How does our practice differ from the article you read?
I think that Diversity Training is good, Caucasians should not feel dominate in the working place of the world and look at other races unevenly as it seems. Diversity Training makes everyone equal on the work force, I feel it should be required in every business so the hiring of Caucasians would go up with the other races in male and female workers decrease. The Diversity Training should not be pushed on to the worker, i think it should be required and they should learn from it, it shouldn't have have to be something that the workers don't want to do. No matter the position/level of importance that your in you should treat everyone equally.
I found this article surprising because I always thought companies took diversity training very seriously. However, the Washington Post article claims that most businesses only initiate diversity training programs to protect themselves in the case of discriminatory lawsuits, not with the initial aim of improving their organizational structure. The site I looked up claimed that to make the most of diversity training programs, the main focus of the courses should be switched to adaptation of behavior over awareness of cultural differences. If this were to happen, companies would kill two birds with one stone- they would put themselves in a stronger position in case of a lawsuit, and would strengthen their organizational structure and customer services.

I think that diversity training is simply a neccesary evil. On one hand, it may interupt your work but it can be very beneficial in the end. The first article we read made it seem like such a waste of time and money, with no real benefits. However this other article I found, along with Dr. Snyder's comment, made it seem really beneficial to a business. I agree that it should be required and I can see why going to such a thing might be resented. I would find something like that interesting. But that's just me. Anyway it sounds like it might be an inconvenience to the employee but rather beneficial to the company.

i personally believe that diversity training helps us learn from others who are not the same as we are. It creates respect for all and creates a workplace environment that invites other ideas that may not have been other wise thought of. being a female i can appreciate an employer who would take the time and put in the effort of training. www.diversitybuilder.com.
For me diversity training helps build an environment for different races, cultures, live styles, and ethnicities that improve employee performance. i also feel that it needs to be for the benefit of the business and the employee. this will lower the risk of lawsuits due to discrimination. http://www.lrn.com/resources/workplace-diversity-training-programs-to-prevent-discrimination-and-workplace-harassment.html
I found this article very useful when learning about the use of diversity training in the workplace. Diversity training is used to pull everyone from different cultural groups and races together so that everyone is treated the same. I think that it is important to use this in a workplace so that no one feels like they are being compared to another.

this article was very useful in my learning about diversity training. I thought that it is needed in all work areas and all working environments. It plays a big role in discrimination.

i think that Diversity Training article is very useful to us because it helps us learn about "Real World"
It shows us what some jobs are suspecting and what they don't want you to do.

Diversity training is important. It helps establish good standings with all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Diversity Training helps expand the workplace and make the workplace a more comfortable place. According to (http://ezinearticles.com/?Diversity-Training---The-Global-Workplace&id=1064459)All workplaces should should consider Diversity training as a valuable asset. When diversity is a valuable asset you can learn to accept ideals and new ways of doing things and make an organization more productive and successful.
I believe that companies should encourage diversity training but also monitor its efficiency to see what it has accomplished. Diversity training by itself won’t be much of a help, but a committee of people dedicated to it: like a human resources office: will help. Otherwise, diversity training can be unproductive. The Washington Post article points out a few back draws of poorly managed diversity training. Companies should use diversity training to better the people, not to dodge lawsuits. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1615183,00.html
I believe that diversity in the office is extremely important. I remember when i first started training for my job they presented a video on the importance of diversity and equality among all employees. also in other areas such as colleges and general society. many colleges such as Harvard Medical School has a wonderful perspective on the subject. their office of diversity and community partnership was promoted to help increase recruitment and advantacment of diversity faculty. I believe at this point in our advanced society we should not have an issue with diversity in the work area. therefore, the effort to further diversity training needs to expand greatly.
